How To Get Rid Of Enlarged Pores

Ugh! Enlarged pores! For as long as I can remember I have had incredibly enlarged pores. They span across my nose and onto my cheeks. I have tried every product available to “cleanse” my pores and remove the crud that lays in them. I have scrubbed my pores to death with special abrasive sponges that supposedly “lift the dirt”. I had pretty much given up hope of having creamy smooth skin with no visible pores. I was stuck with large pores and it was something that I was going to have to live with. PoresLet’s face it, my mom has enlarged pores, my grandmother had enlarged pores, family members have large pores, I figured enlarged pores were something that was in my genetics. Something that I would have to live with. Little did I know what really caused my large pores.

In this post, I wanted to share what I have learned about enlarged pores and what I have found that has dramatically reduced them.

What causes enlarged pores?

Enlarged pores are not actually “larger” than any other pores. It’s not that the pore size is larger, it’s that the skin around the pore is swollen, which stretches the skin and gives the appearance of large pores.
People who have oily skin tend to have larger pores. When oil and dirt collect in the skin, the skin swells and leaves behind large pores. People tend to associate acne with enlarged pores, this is not, however the case. If you have oily skin, as I do, you are prone to both acne and enlarged pores.
Another factor that can contribute to enlarged pores in age. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and makes our pores appear larger. Sun damage, which has accumulated over the years, also contributes to enlarged pores. Sun damage causes our skin to thicken, stretching our skin from your pore’s opening and making the pore appear larger than it is.

Is it possible to reduce the size of our pores?

You cannot physically reduce the size of pores but we can treat our skin so the appearance of enlarged pores diminishes.

What can we do to improve the appearance of enlarged pores?

1. Start by keeping face clean
Washing your face twice a day with a gentle cleanser will keep excessive oil from accumulating on the skin. Be sure to wash face directly after sweating. However, you want to be cautious of over-washing. When we over-wash, i.e. too frequently or too aggressive, our skin will respond just as if it was dried out and produce more oil. I can honestly admit, I was never one to wash my face after I worked out.

2. Use sunscreen daily
Preventing further sun damage will retain your skin’s elasticity and keep your enlarged pores from getting worse.

enlarged pores 13. NeriumAD
NeriumAD, as you may have read in our other posts, does many things. It addresses multiple concerns such as wrinkles, fine lines, uneven skin texture, discoloration, and enlarged pores with one product. I was most curious to see what the effect of it would be on my pores. I don’t have many wrinkles or discoloration. Once I started using NeriumAD, I literally could see the enlarged pores start to diminish the next morning. Even more amazing, as I’ve continued to use NeriumAD and followed the above steps, my pore size has diminished to the point of being unnoticeable!
